Chapter 21

“Excuse me, Miss Willmint. We’ve brought the refreshments for you,” an older gentleman wearing a restaurant’s server-resembling uniform informed after coming into the lounge. He pushed a table on wheels that had several plates with all kinds of snacks on them, from fruits to pastries and even some meats. There were bottles with drinks on the table as well of course.

“This is Mister Tristan. He will be serving us tonight, as well as, assisting us with the bids when the auction starts. We still have some time until the auction starts, Mister Rockin, and the auction might last longer than usual tonight. All VIP guests will be offered drinks and food tonight, not only ours,” Meribel told me which basically meant Ranalaiya, Sylfrin and Lilfira will be taken care of as well.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mister Starling,” Tristan greeted me with a bow.

“Hello Tristan. Nice to meet you too,” I nodded, showing a smile.

“What drink would you like me to pour for you, ma’am?” Tristan asked, turning to Meribel.

“Sowee’s wine, please,” Meribel said before turning to me. “What about you, Mister Rockin?”

“Um… I’ll take Sowee’s wine as well then,” I said. In all fairness, I had no idea what drinks were available and that’s why I went with what Meribel took.

“Right away,” the man responded before picking up a bottle from the table.

“You like sweet drinks, Mister Rockin?” Meribel asked.

“Not… exactly. I just thought I’ll have a taste of what you’re having, Miss Meribel,” I said. I instantly became embarrassed by how corny my explanation sounded, but I couldn’t take my words away now.

“How eloquent of you, Mister Rockin,” Meribel smiled.

“Well…” I simply smiled back, having no idea what she implied with her comment.

“Here you are, ma’am,” Tristan served the drink to Meribel first before picking up another glass to pass it to me. “Sir.”

“Thank you,” I said, picking it up.

“Any food you’ d like to be served now?” Tristan asked.

“Mister Rockin?” Meribel turned to me again.

“I’m… not exactly hungry. I ate before coming here,” I said.

“That’s ok, Mister Tristan. Leave it there for now,” Meribel said with a smile.

“As you wish, ma’am,” Tristan said before going to stand closer to the lounge’s balcony. He stepped to stand closer to the curtain on the side, so he wouldn’t obstruct the view for either of us.

Right, no funny business, I guess. Oh well, let’s keep it professional then. At first, I thought it’s gonna be only me and Meribel together, but apparently it was not so.

“It’s been a while since the last time so many people were attending an auction. Does the auction have some rare magic items to offer tonight?” I asked.

“We do,” Meribel said before tasting some of her drink instead of elaborating on what those items could be. “What do you think of the Sowee’s wine, Mister Rockin?”

“Oh, um…” I hadn’t tasted the wine yet. I wasn’t a drinker back in my previous world. The one and only time I had drunk alcohol ended up
