Multi-stage Paper Airplane Claymore

The two of them, Sean and Aggi, sat down on an examination table for a bit, close together now.

“You know, if you wanted, we could…” Sean began.

“Sean, don’t take this the wrong way, but there’s no chance. This whole place is just… it’s entirely gross, and it’s chronically terrible. I feel like it’s seeping through my skin. I don’t want to ruin that by associating it with this place.

Sean sighed in relief.

“Thank god. I don’t think I even could have, honestly. The lights in here are burning into my skull. It’s the worst.”

“Then why did you ask?” Aggi cracked up. “That’s stupid, Sean. Even for you.”

“I just wanted to make sure we are fine. I think I’ve been clear that I have no idea how any of this,” Sean motioned back and forth between them, “actually works.”

“It doesn’t have to work,” Aggi said. “When I’m in town, I’m in town, and we are together. And if you get bored of me, you just tell me.”

“I don’t think I’m comfortable telling an assassin that I’m bored of her.”

“I’ll only stab you a little.” Aggi held up her index finger and thumb, slightly spaced. “The minimum amount.”

“What about you? What if you get bored?”

“Bored is fine. I’ve told you that.” Aggi poked Sean’s ribs. “I get excited doing things like this. When I’m back, I just want to watch… what did you call them?”

“B-Movies,” Sean contributed.

“B-Movies. And I want to eat the weird food you people ate, and drink your sugar drinks, and I want to sleep in.” Aggi patted Sean’s hand and stood. “You are very, very good at sleeping in and eating. Keep it up, and we’ll be fine.”

Back at the camp, the others were mostly already settled down into a few rooms on either side of the hallway, just before the dark. Sean and Aggi poked around rooms before they found a sort of triage room with a few different beds set up, pulled them together, and laid down. With a blanket over their heads to block out the terrible, cheap light, they fell asleep pretty fast.

Sean didn’t dream much anymore. He wasn’t sure why, but it put a fine point on how weird it was when he found himself having a dream in which he felt like he was going to throw up. Or more precisely, having a dream that was almost entirely the sensation of being nauseous. There were no characters and no plot. There was no setting. There was just the vague, still-sleeping knowledge that he was about to puke, and nothing else.

The unpleasantness of it all finally woke him up just enough for him to question the dream, which allowed him to wake the rest of the way up. He sat up quickly, assessed the room, and found no evidence of danger at all. There were no syringes hanging out of him, at least, which had been his initial worry.

“What’s up?” Aggi stirred next to Sean.

“Just nauseous. While I was sleeping. I thought it was weird,” Sean said in a soft voice.
