In the years to come, College Summit will have to work hard to persuade teachers, school administrators, college counselors, and political leaders to buy in to its model. “Teachers have heard all about magic bullets,” noted Kinney Zalesne. “They are skeptical before they even know what the program is.” In 2003, Schramm was gearing up for 2006, when the data from the Chicago and California evaluations were expected in. “By 2006 we’ll have a couple of school superintendents and mayors in a couple of highly referable cities who can stand up and say this model works community-wide,” he asserted. “We’re building up the infrastructure and testing our sites and franchise model, so we’ll be ready to move when all that attention comes.”
