The rest of the week drags on. The only bright points are when I see Carmen in my intro class. Sheâs still shy in a way she wasnât before that day in my office, but itâs somehow entirely charming. She was so confident before, but now she seems sweet, delicateâlike something Iâd do anything to protect.
Iâm not normally so caveman in my attractions, but no oneâs ever made me feel the way she does.
On Friday, I knock on her door at the appointed time, and she swings it open as if sheâs been waiting for me.
Iâm not prepared for how good she looks.
Sheâs wearing a black dress that clings to her curves and shows off her ample cleavage. Her thick hair is styled in loose waves, and it makes her look like a goddess. I feel my body reacting and I have to force myself to work through GDP formulas in my mind so I donât sport an obvious erection.
I want to take that dress off her with my teeth and worship every inch of her body.
âIs it okay? I can change,â she says, looking at me nervously.
If that dress comes off, Iâm going to ensure that it stays off.
âYou look gorgeous,â I say. I put my hand on her waist without even realizing what Iâm doing, and she leans into my touch. âAbsolutely stunning.â
I have to resist the urge to pull her tight against me. If I do that, weâre never going to make it out the door.
I take Carmenâs hand and lead her to my car. When she slides into the seat, she looks like she belongs there.
I want her to belong there.
The drive to The Armadilla seems to take forever. Carmenâs dress has ridden up a bit, and I have to fight the urge to caress the smooth expanse of her thigh thatâs exposed. I want to trace my fingers up the inside of her leg, tease her with what I hope to do to her later. I resist the urge, but itâs a close thing.
Every time I glance over at her, sheâs watching me intently as if she canât quite figure me out.
âPenny for your thoughts,â I say.
She laughs. âThat doesnât seem like a fair trade,â she says. âAs an economist, Iâd expect you not to be going around wasting your pennies like that.â
As if knowing more about her could ever be a waste.
âAre you really okay with this?â I ask her. âThings got weird in my office the other day. I hope you didnât say yes to me out of some sense of obligation.â
She shakes her head, her curls bouncing around her face. âI just got into my head too much,â she says.
âIn what way?â
She gives me another searching look. âI just realized thereâs no way a man like you would flirt with someone like me.â
For a moment, Iâm speechless.
âJust for the record, I was giving you my best material. If it wasnât clear that I was flirting with you, I must be pretty bad at it.
