The next day, my head is still spinning from everything Gunner told me. Seeing him now with his stable job and the way he obviously loves Brooklyn, all means so much more knowing what he’s been through in the last five years.

It also makes me feel like a huge asshole hooking up with Brooklyn and not telling him. And now I’m thinking about Brooklyn again. My Brooklyn. Fuck, I already thought she was incredible, but after Gunner told me everything, I couldn’t help but respect her all the more. Not only is she this strong, stunning woman, but she’s kind, generous, and loyal to boot. She wouldn’t tell me what happened with Gunner because she loved him too much to throw him under the bus. Jesus, she’s perfect. A guy could fall in love with someone like that.

Before I can get too far down that rabbit hole, Brooklyn jangles her keys in the lock, but I open it before she gets the chance to.

At first, she looks shocked, but then her eyes sparkle and her lips curl up in the warmest smile when she sees it’s me.

God, this woman. I’ll never get tired of the way she looks at me. I haven’t seen her since Gunner told me everything yesterday. She stayed with Adelyn and her new baby last night, and then got up early to go to work.

Now that she’s in front of me, I have the overwhelming urge to kiss her and hold her close.

So, I do.

I loop my fingers around her wrist and gently tug her inside, closing the door behind her and pressing her up against it. Brooklyn looks up at me and licks her lips. Her perfectly pouty, soft, and delicious lips.

Leaning down, I rest my forehead on hers for a brief moment, just breathing her in. She smells like coffee and spice and mine. I brush my lips over hers, taking my time to really taste her, to feel the softness of her kiss. Brooklyn might not let me provide for her in many ways just yet, but I know of one way I can take care of her. It’ll have to be a start.

I trail my lips across her jaw and down her neck, giving her featherlight kisses along the way. Her breathing picks up. I fucking love how responsive she is. My hands glide down her curvy hips where I grip her and pull her into me so she feels exactly how affected I am by her.

I skim my lips over the shell of her ear and take a second to listen to the way her breath catches in her throat.

“Let’s take this to the bedroom, baby girl.”

Brooklyn nods and follows me to her room.

Once inside, she wastes no time in throwing her arms around me and pulling me in for a heated kiss. She slides her hands down my chest, clawing at my muscles along the way before she tugs at my shirt and grinds her hot little cunt against me.
