“Come on, Red. We gotta get back.”

Just then, he lifts his leg and pees

right on me and part of the tree.

I don’t think he meant to pee on me.

“REEEEEED!”

I see he isn’t finished, and I forgot to bring something

to pick up the poop.

I look at Red.

He looks at me.

“I’m not picking up that poop, Red.”

He sits down.

I sit down. I don’t know what to do.

We sit

and sit

and sit.

I am not picking up that poop.

Then I have an idea!

I pull some grass out of the ground.

A whole bunch of it.

I cover the poop.

This way no one will see it.

I use so much grass there is a big bald spot

underneath the tree.

Then Red and me walk back home.

But the daylight is almost gone, and I don’t have

time to do any of the other chores.

What about the web-shooter?

My birthday is tomorrow.

I feel like a big, giant, sore lump.

I don’t feel like eating.

I don’t feel like brushing my teeth.

I don’t feel like brushing my hair.

When we get back home,

I just let Red go into the family room, and I go to bed.

The next morning I still feel sad.

It feels like the same old day.

The same old thing.

I put my hands around the pillow and squeeze.

I don’t want to get up.

Then I feel it.

There’s something under my pillow.

I sit up and lift the pillow slowly.

Oh my gosh! It’s the Spider-Man wrist shooter!

How did it get under my pillow?

Then I see a note. It’s from Mama.

“You’re a good girl, Beth. Happy Birthday.”

It’s signed by all my brothers, too, and Bob.

I jump up and put it on.

I run to the kitchen.

“Mama, Mama, Mama! Look!”

Just as she turns around, I press the button,

and a dart shoots out with a string,

cracking

the new mug I gave her—

with her coffee in it.
