...and Further
Additional options to consider include traditional sauna, the topical application of iodine, a daily dose of niacin, massage, swimming in salt water, mud baths, aromatherapy using certified therapeutic-grade essential oils, increased juicing, and homeopathy, among others.
For more details on any given approach mentioned anywhere within this Guide, and for additional ideas relevant to your specific symptom or body part of concern, ask your fellow support list members, do a search within the GAPSguide.com website, or do a search within Dr. Campbell-McBride’s FAQ document.
As noted in this chapter, there is a lot of “wiggle room” within GAPS. Some of the ideas will work well for you and some will not. Any given person may need, for example, to remove apple cider vinegar; reduce their consumption of broth, fats, or salicylates; remove sweet vegetables; add liver; or include additional supplements. Aspects some people prioritize (but which I personally have not worried about) include the types of pots used, the quality of bath water, and so on. If these are a concern for you, they can be tested one at a time, just as a food might. That is, rotate out a type of cookware, chlorinated bath water, or any other item of concern, and watch for changes in your health upon excluding then reintroducing it.
Any given support, including any listed in this Guide, may or may not assist your particular body. Try out one at a time, giving each at least one month so you can see the results. Within the time frame that healing requires, there is plenty of room to try out different game plans. Go for it!
Finally, as you proceed through your healing journey, be sure to check the Book Updates page at the GAPSguide.com website at least monthly, as well as Dr. Campbell-McBride’s regularly updated FAQ document.
