Chapter Seven

Liam’s jaw dropped as the truck slowed and the white clapboard farmhouse at the end of the driveway came into view. He wasn’t sure what he had been expecting considering that this was supposed to be backwoods country, but it wasn’t the large two-story house with a wraparound porch and hunter-green shutters. It even had a porch swing.

“Is it a Victorian?”

“It was styled after a Victorian but it’s just looks that way. The inside is all modern.”

“It’s stunning.” Liam could just picture lazy summer afternoons curled up on the porch swing hanging in front of one of the large picture windows, cuddling with Yuri.

If he cuddled.

“Do you cuddle?” It was a legitimate question.

Yuri grinned over at him. “I love to cuddle.”

Liam smiled, but only for a moment before he looked Yuri up and down and then glanced back at the porch swing. “Do you fit on that swing?”

“I do.” Yuri was still grinning. “Would you like to try it out?”

Liam’s breath caught. “Could we?”

Yuri parked the truck behind another one and turned it off. He opened the door and climbed out, reaching back and holding his hand out for Liam.

Liam quickly unbuckled his seatbelt and scooted across the bench seat to take the hand Yuri held out to him. He giggled as he was swept up in Yuri’s arms. The door closed, and he was carried toward the house. With each step, Liam’s eyes grew wider as he took in Yuri’s home.

“This is so beautiful, Yuri.”

At first glance, the place seemed simple enough, an old Victorian set back in the woods. But once he looked deeper, Liam could see the care that went into the place. Everything was in good condition, but the house still had a lived-in feel as if the place had settled decades ago. Colorful flowers lined the stone walkway up to the steps of the large wraparound porch. Liam wasn’t much of a gardener, but he could learn to be.

Liam was excited about seeing the inside, but it was still the porch swing that held his interest at the moment, especially when Yuri set him down on the worn green cushions and put the swing to swaying.

“Just sit right here, mate. I’m going to get your friend Bay settled and then grab us a blanket. I’ll be right back.”

“Okay.” Liam leaned toward Yuri when the man bent down to press a kiss to the top of his head. He really could fall for this guy, and fall hard. “Hey.” Liam placed a hand on Yuri’s arm when he went to stand. “Don’t be too hard on Bay. He has his reasons for getting so upset if he thinks Stefan lied to him and purposely didn’t use a condom.”

“What reasons?”

Liam shook his head. “When Bay is ready, he’ll tell Stefan what they are.”

“Do you know?”

“I do, but it’s not my place to say anything. Bay isn’t doing this because he’s a jerk. He isn’t. Just know that he has very valid reasons.”

Yuri’s lips thinned. “I commend your loyalty to your friend, Liam.
