Goose

Goose Family

The goose is a member of the family Anatidae, which also includes ducks and swans. They are interesting birds that often live on farms and by bodies of water. Geese fly in V-shaped formations called skeins. A male adult goose is called a gander, an adult female is a goose, and babies are called goslings. Geese have a loud call, or “honk,” that they use for communication. Each year, geese lose their tail feathers and grow new ones. The process of losing tail feathers is called molting. It takes geese about 6 weeks to grow them back!
