“An Acid Fairy Tale ”
Once upon a time there was a young man who spent all his time traveling about his country, searching for the real meaning and purpose of life. There were not many cars in the country where he lived, and the few people who owned cars were so possessive of them that they seldom gave rides to others, so much of the young man’s traveling was done on foot.
Late one night his travels brought him to a small town, in which he thought there might be some interesting and perhaps beautiful people who could contribute to his search for meaning and purpose. It was, however, too late on that particular night for him to find a room where he could sleep.
So it was that he climbed over a high fence surrounding a field on the edge of town, and fell asleep amongst the tombstones of the graveyard therein enclosed. Just by chance he happened to fall asleep against the tombstone of a beautiful young girl who had died only a few weeks before.
As he slept, his mind experienced a beautiful dream. It was so beautiful and so intense that the spirit of the young girl caught its’ wave-length, and before the young man’s dream was over, her spirit had fallen in love with him.
Now this young girl had been an identical twin, and thus, during the smallest cellular seconds of her life following conception, she had been just one person. Then, when she split into two identical persons, her spirit had divided also. Thus her life had been the severed and incomplete one of all identical twins, and death for her would not be complete until she was joined in it by her twin sister.
The next morning the young man awoke at sunrise and went into the town. The streets were almost completely deserted because of the early hour, and the first person he chanced to meet was the sister of the dead girl beside whose grave he had slept during the night. She was up early because she was still very distraught over her sister’s death, especially since it was in reality half of herself that had died.
The surviving twin sister fell almost immediately in love with the young man, and he in turn fell in love with her. She took him to her house where she fed him and let him get cleaned up. Then she went to bed with him and they made love together for a long, long time. After a while they began to feel tired, and eventually they fell asleep in each other’s arms. Just before she fell asleep, the beautiful young girl was sure she could feel very intensely the presence of her dead sister nearby, in the room with them, almost in the bed with them.
What had happened was that the spirit of the dead sister, having fallen hopelessly in love with the young man through sharing the experience of his dream, had followed him as he left the graveyard and walked into the town.
