Chapter 11.

Vincent.

I bolted through the city, running through the shadows and streets, hiding from the people who wanted me dead.

When I’d refused to kill Sadie’s father, as far as the fathers were concerned, that made me a traitor.

I had betrayed my blood family, the ones who’d turned me centuries ago. They proclaimed me an outcast. Unfortunately, that meant anyone was welcome to take me out.

I didn’t regret my choice, of course. Not for a moment.

For years I’d ignored the blood ring, not wanting to think about my brethren who treated humans in such a terrible way. But once I’d seen Sadie that fateful night, everything had changed. I’d been desiring my mate, craving my mate... for so long. To finally find her was a gift—even if she was a wolf shifter, human, witch blend. And I had to share her with two others. None of those factors mattered, because she was the right one for me. I had complete faith in our bond.

I managed to get through the city accosted and found the apartment that Fridge and Rogan shared. They didn’t ask how I knew where they lived, and I was kind of glad. I didn’t want to admit to the level of research I’d done on them when I’d found out their link to my mate.

The whole place smelled like Sadie, which made my fangs descend and my belly tighten with desire.

Damn, I wanted her. But I would wait for the time that she was ready for me.

After all, I could turn her in a few years if she so chose, and we could live together, forever. If she wanted.

And those shifters too. Maybe.

I shook my head. We had to get through the next day, the next week. I shouldn’t be worrying about the forever immortal life. No just yet anyway.

Especially not now that I knew Sadie was part witch. I shuddered. Damn, that was going to be bad if any other vampires found out about her. Fridge, Rogan, and I would have a full-time job keeping her alive, let alone out of the blood ring hands.

The daughter of a full witch. It was just unheard of.

I grabbed the clothes that the dragon shifter had laid out on the couch, and two bags lying nearby. I had to assume they were to be taken as well since they were all clustered together.

Then I made my way back to the hotel room that my new family resided in.

I knocked on the door of the room.

Rogan opened it, his eyebrows fluttering up. “Damn, you’re fast.”

I walked into the door and shrugged. “I wanted to come back as soon as possible.”

I was fast, even for a vampire. I just didn’t like to brag about it.

I laid the bags and the clothes on the bed and Sadie jumped up for them. “Thank you so much for getting these, Vincent.”

She took the bag I assumed was hers and moved across the room, opening the zipper and taking out a pair of underwear and a tank top.
