Chapter 33 â Finding Common Ground
A few minutes later they were all back with the group as a whole. Their oaths and associated judgments had been made, and Jay was already feeling the urge to get on with this meeting. He didnât want it to take up the rest of the day. There was already very little sunlight left. Although he supposed it wasnât actually sunlight, but just an environment set up by their captors.
When they got there, he saw relief on Jessieâs and Miaâs faces. He could tell from Mia that even she was a bit frazzled from all the girls who had been demanding to know more about how they got to be wives and what being on Team Jay meant. The only one of them that seemed to have enjoyed the experience was Huong. The bond conveyed that she was having fun.
âOkay, so now we have to handle the sad business of determining if anyone else has powers similar to mind control. I apologize, as I know that none of us asked to be here, but I must put the safety of the whole over the rights of the individual,â Jay said.
There was a short and vigorous debate, but in the end there were half a dozen girls that had some type of power that could influence the mind or emotions. Few of them were as powerful as Sheila or as insidious as Jasmineâs had been. Eventually they all took an oath and received a judgment from Samantha.
âNow that that is settled, we can get on to the more pleasant business of finding out who would like to join us and who would like to form their own group,â Jay said.
âNot to interrupt you, Jay, but we already discussed that while you were gone with Sheila, Trina, and the others. Everyone here wants to join our cluster and are prepared to accept you as leader. The only real issue is deciding on a number of advisors and who those advisors will be,â Charlotte said.
Jay felt like everything was falling into place. It made him want to be playful, so he looked at the tall blond and replied, âYou arenât interrupting, Char. Iâm very glad to hear that, but then again, the sounds that come out of your mouth are usually most pleasant.â
He hadnât expected her to blush. He just gave her a grin and realized she must have been more focused than normal. After all she was generally one for a quick joke.
âWe do still need to give the last six a chance to decide if they want to join the cluster or not,â Amelia said.
âAnd we have to sort out who is going to join Team Jay and who is going to join Team Miguel,â Huong added.
âUm, one thing at a time, Huong. Team Jay may accept more, but not today. We need time to get to know people. And they need time to get to know us.â
The sense of purring came through the bond as the petite Vietnamese beauty said, âTechnically, that is a matter for the team to vote on.
