I’ve Got A Secret

The media soon descended on the Pan house and police station to report all the details. There was an instant fear in the town of Markham as it appeared to be a home invasion where two innocent people had been shot.

The police had a public news conference to try and ease some of the people in the community. The murderers may have been attracted to the home because of the family’s high-end vehicles; however, they noted that neither vehicle was taken as part of the robbery. The police also wouldn’t let the public know how much money was taken in the home invasion or that there was still money in Hann’s wallet, Bich’s purse and Jennifer’s room. They also said that there was no sign of forced entry into the home suggesting that the door was unlocked.

They released a description of the three assailants which was according to Jennifer’s statement;

Number One — male, black, twenty-eight to thirty-three years old, five feet, seven inches tall with a medium build.

Number Two – male, black, thirty-one years old, five feet, eight inches tall, with a thin build, wearing a dark hood and a bandana over his face.

Number Three – male, thin build, with a Caribbean accent.

It was about 10 a.m. when Jennifer and a lot of her family all were at the intensive care unit at the Toronto Sunnybrook Hospital praying for her father. One bullet had entered Hann's face and travelled down to his neck where it was still lodged. There were also still bullet fragments in his face. The bullet missed a vital artery and it looked like he would come out of it alive.

It was outside of the Pan family home that two police detectives sat in their command post RV where they were plotting their course for canvassing the neighborhood, when a young man knocked on their door. The man told the detectives that Jennifer’s boyfriend, Daniel Wong, was a drug dealer and that she was his delivery person. One of the officers ran a check on Daniel and found that he had been convicted of selling drugs a few years before. They then set up an interview with Daniel Wong for the next day at 4 p.m.

Daniel walked into the Markham police detachment with his girlfriend, Katrina Villanueva. He had a cold and was constantly sniffing. When Detective Robert Milligan came into the room to interview him, the first thing that he noticed was that Daniel was calm, polite and very friendly. In fact, when Milligan left the room for a few minutes, Daniel fell asleep with his head on the table.

Milligan and Wong got along well from the start while Daniel talked about his life, from his job at Boston Pizza to attending York University. The topic then changed to whether Daniel had a girlfriend, and he replied that it was Katrina, the woman that came with him to the interview.
