Copper
Copper is highly malleable and can be shaped into a variety of healing tools, such as this sphere.
Copper, one of the more important metals in the world, occurs in nature as nuggets, veins, crystals, and wires and in various ores. Native copper is a cubic mineral, and it is typically a reddish metal in its pure form. As it oxidizes, it may exhibit a green patina. It is extremely malleable, tensile, and a good conductor. Copper readily combines with other elements, and it has many industrial and commercial applications.
Copper is a powerful healing mineral, and its history as an instrument of healing traces back for centuries. It is still used today in magical and spiritual traditions as a tool for conducting energy.
One of the core concepts embodied by this native metal is connection. Copper is known for being highly conductive, and it can carry more than mere electricity through its matrix. It builds and improves upon connections between organs, systems, people, concepts, and energy fields. Copper helps bridge resonant fields to promote understanding, empathy, and cooperation. For this reason, it is effective for pain management in the physical body.
Copper helps our hearts, both the physical and spiritual, engage in authentic connection with the world at large. It is a catalyst, helping shape our bonds with respect to our hearts; copper enables the heart to be the leader in every bridge we form. Many copper minerals express themselves in shades of blue or blue green, including chrysocolla, turquoise, azurite, ajoite, shattuckite, papagoite, and many more. Because these colors are often associated with the throat chakra in the Western chakra system, these copper-bearing stones help us engage in open, truthful communication as a means of connecting to the people in our lives.
Many times, copper forms in green minerals as a testament to its heart connection. Practitioners today typically associate the color green with the heart chakra, and green stones are often supportive of this energy center. In addition to malachite and dioptase, minerals such as atacamite, pure ajoite, brochanite, olivenite, and others form in brilliant shades of green thanks to their copper content.
Copper, as mentioned earlier, is intimately connected to the energy of Venus, the ruling planet of love and relationships. Metallic copper helps us establish right relationship with all aspects of our lives. We are in relationship to everything around us: the floor, our food, the air, our loved ones, our co-workers, even the strangers we pass on our daily commute. Copper initiates an understanding of the sanctity of each relationship from our heart’s point of view.
Copper is electric, alive, and synergizing. Its effects awaken us to the beauty extant in each connection we make, be it on a physical, romantic, mental, or spiritual level. Copper is a tool for catalyzing healing, and it helps our heart reflect only love on the road to perfect health. It helps us shape our world according to the needs of our heart, helping us bend and reorganize our inner and outer domains accordingly. Copper and copper minerals are nourishing to the emotional body, and they are profoundly centering.
