Sanchez came five minutes late to the meeting, and Clay smirked to himself, knowing the dark-haired reason for his tardiness.
âGood morning, everyone. Letâs get started.â Sanchez took his position at the front of the room. âTwo days ago, we received a call from a woman who lives in Banner, a small town near the eastern border of Colorado. She wanted to inform the FBI about some suspicious activity going on in a house down the road from her home. She lives about ten miles from town.â
Agent Cameron sat back against the edge of the table. âWhat type of suspicious activity?â
âCars coming and going at all hours of the night, seven days a week.â Sanchez set his laptop on the table and opened it.
Clay narrowed his eyes. âWhy did she call the FBI?â
âGood question.â Sanchez addressed the room with his answer. âApparently, the woman has called the local Sheriff multiple times. The Sheriff sent a deputy out to the house one time, but he reported that nothing unusual was going on. He says the cars were family members coming and going and that they had every right to do so. But, Mrs. Coch is certain something illegal is going on. She reports that the vehicles are different every night.â
âSo, she doesnât believe the sheriff?â Cameron asked.
âExactly. After speaking with Mrs. Coch, I agree itâs possible thereâs something going on. What she describes is most likely drug related and could also be a brothel of sorts. Last night, two agents surveilled the home. They observed the exact behavior that Mrs. Coch reported. We got the appropriate warrants, and tonight Iâve ordered an FBI raid. If we find what I think we will, then weâll have to determine if the Sheriffâs Department is in on it, or not.â Sanchez scanned the people in the meeting until his gaze landed on Clay. âJennings, Iâd like some K9 units involved in the raid.â
âIâm on it.â
âGood.â Sanchez turned to Cameron. âWeâll need a SWAT team with us, just in case.â
âYes, sir.â Cameron punched numbers on his phone and left the room.
âThatâs it for today. Thereâs nothing new on the murder investigations to report at this time. Weâve got a solid profile, but no suspects. Unfortunately, weâll have to wait until someone on the street reports a man fitting the un-subâs description or until he makes another move. Weâll gather here again tomorrow, after the raid. Letâs get out there. Be safe.â
