Colton leads me to a jetted bathtub in his master suite. Though he lives alone, he has an assortment of goodies to choose from. He helps me clean off his mess and then gets me into the tub where the scent of apricot fills the room as the water starts filling the porcelain basin.

I notice a slight change in Colton's demeanor. He straightens his shoulders just a touch and breathes out a sigh of relief. "Then you have some options."

That surprises me. I didn't think I had any options, not really. "Oh, yeah?" Bubbles slowly fill the tub, covering my chest. "Like what?"

"You can go somewhere else and start over. You can testify against this Ricky Tyler guy, but there could be repercussions. Or you can stay here with me and let me protect you."

I never thought about turning Ricky Tyler into the police. It sounds terrifying thinking about it, but it would solve all of my problems. Except for the one sitting right in front of me.

If I turned Ricky Tyler in, I would be able to go back home and live my life. Presuming, of course, that his friends on the street didn't come after me or anything. But returning to my life would mean leaving Colton. I know I just met him, but what we just shared was beyond anything I could have imagined. I'm not sure I could walk away from this. Not without regretting it. Even though the taste of his belt stung, it left me wanting more.

"Maybe I could stay here for a while," I suggest in a tight little voice. "Just while I figure things out.
