Chapter Twelve

It was tedious work, but Daniel managed to fill a page with questions. Actually, making a list of questions wasn’t the hard part because he had so many, but he tried to prioritize them since he’d have to find the answers himself and string it all together.

“Did you get anything written down?” Caledon asked, glancing at him through his hip glasses.

“Excellent. Then I guess it’s time to go check out the library. Come on, stud,” Caledon said and got up. Daniel folded his questions up and shoved them into his back pocket. As they left the office and walked the hall, Daniel still thought about the questions he had written down.

“Do you know if it’s normal for someone to not know if they were bisexual?”

“At your age? Definitely. We have breeders who don’t figure other stuff out until they’re in their thirties. And that’s with all they get to experience here.”

“Like what?” Daniel opened the door for them.

“Like figuring out that they actually like BDSM or have a kink for some fetish.”

“Actually, you do. Makeup. You might not need it to get sexually aroused, but damn if it doesn’t get better for you when you know the one you’re fucking thinks you’re stunningly beautiful.”

“Okay! I have a fetish,” Daniel said, grinning. They entered the elevator and went down to some other level. Daniel still hadn’t figured out the things on the elevator buttons. “Would you explain the levels and buttons?”

“White levels are common areas for all, including breeders,” Caledon said and pointed to the row of buttons, one of which he had pushed. “The rest are colored depending on eye color. You already know the breeders with a collar are off limits, but they have a code tattooed on their neck if they’re not claimed. They can be tattooed if claimed, too, but then the collar is the one to pay attention to. You’ll get a list of the feeding codes when we make it to the library.”

“Okay. Good thing I have a whole year to learn them,” Daniel said, grinning. The doors opened, and they went into a hallway with a lot more people walking around than in any other hallway they had walked earlier. Or any other time once he thought about it. It was like stepping into a mall. There was every eye color there and a lot of naked men and women. So far Daniel had mainly seen men, and he asked why that was.

“To make housing of the breeders easy, we divide the Cubi into hallways depending on how they feed. You live with Seldon, who only feeds from men, and his areas are mainly regarding men. He also trains women, but you’ve never seen him work. Except that one time.”

Daniel didn’t need to be reminded of that one. He was still shaken up that Seldon could look and act so cold, but he also thought he understood how his age could have provided the mental distance to what he had to do.
