Chapter seven
Natalia
One week laterâ¦
Over the past week, I had been stressed over this new position that I hoped to get. I wanted to run the New Orleans office, and I was praying that they gave me that job. I was doing everything in my power to get it. With the holidays right around the corner, I was hoping that maybe they were holding off to hand it over to me as a Christmas present.
Things between me and Samson had been a little distant since I returned from my business trip. I was sure it had to do with our little spat we had about him working offshore. I just wished he understood that I wanted what was best for him. I wanted him to have a good job with financial stability. I didnât want him to have to worry about money when we started planning for our future.
Right now, I made more than he did. My father didnât think he would be a good provider if I made more than he did. I just wanted a man that my father would be proud to call him son in law. When I first met Samson, sure he had tattoos on various parts of his body, but I didnât think he was a tattoo artist. He was so handsome and the conversations that we had were intriguing.
I loved Samson, and he was the man I wanted to be with. I just wanted him to listen to what I was saying when it came to his career path. I knew he was upset because he felt I wasnât being supportive enough. However, having all that tension between us wasnât going to help our relationship at all.
Shit, Christmas was approaching, and I hadnât even put up my tree yet. I kept waiting for Samson to come over and help me, but that didnât happen. I was starting to think I may as well put the tree up by myself or ask my sister for help.
We hadnât had sex not one time since I had returned from my trip. I hoped that would all change tonight. I had plans to seduce my man and get him to say those three special words that I had been longing to hear.
I had stopped by the grocery store and picked up a couple of steaks, two baked potatoes, and some corn on the cob. I also bought a can of whipped cream and cherries so I could be his dessert.
âHello,â he answered not sounding like he wanted to speak.
âHey. I was just wondering what time you were getting off tonight.â
âIâm not sure. Why?â
âWell, I was trying to plan something special for us.â
âWell, I have my last client coming in at six for a tattoo on his arm. It just depends on how long it takes me to finish his tattoo,â he said.
âDo you think you can come by my place around seven?â I asked.
âI can try.â
âOkay. Hopefully, you can make it.â
âHopefully. Look, my client just walked in. Iâll hit you up.
