1) Decide if you want an online or offline presence, and secure what you need for your blog or newsletter. Think about your targets, what you can offer and the type of content you can use. Set a date for launch … and start now to develop these important tools.

2) Think about what exclusive product or service you could promote via a closed door sale. Think about your best customers, how much they usually spend, and orient this type of event toward those people and what they want to buy. Think about how you can reach them, what type of offer you can make and how you can create an on-going series of events that begin to get a positive “word-of-mouth” reputation.

3) Consider some of those customers who have been with you a while who may be on the verge of switching companies or who have reached the end of their buying cycles with you. Are there other products or services you can offer them? Can you show them new ways of interacting with your company? Can you direct them to another company who is in a strategic alliance with you so you can at least keep them in your network? Sometimes, a simple phone call is enough to open up new possibilities of keeping “old” customers coming back to lengthen their purchase cycle with you.
