I have a hell of a Saturday to get through before dinner. I run with Marsha after breakfast; if she is going to be any match for her upcoming fight in a couple of weeks, she has to up the ante and getting fitter is the best way to start. We have a few rounds in the gym and I’m feeling pumped afterward.

Rodriguez is on my case again about the commentary deal and they’ve accepted my terms. So that’s something.

I wonder how this will work if I start seeing more of Reece? Yeah, that could be a problem.

I don’t want to sacrifice time here with her for this new thing in L.A.

I text Reece about the dinner plans to see if she still wants to go, and much to my delight, she says yes. I tell her I’ll pick her up at eight.

Kitty is out for most of the day, so I’m left to my own devices, but I’ve got a shit ton of emails to catch up on so it’s a good distraction.

I take a long shower in the early evening; I’m pumped about seeing Reece again so soon and want to look good for her. I go clean shaven tonight, it all comes off; I want to look sleek, polished. For once I care what I look like and what she’ll think.

I dress in gray slacks, polished black shoes and a black V-neck long-sleeved Ralph Lauren cotton shirt. I gel my hair a little and tie it back.

I look at my reflection in the mirror and I don’t know why I see that bastard of a father staring back at me. It must be that dream that rattled me.

I hate that I have his same-colored eyes. I don’t want to think about him, not now, not ever. It may cripple me to have to relive it.

The asshole got in contact some years ago, when I made it big, wanting dough. Not to ask how any of us are, the daughter he never knew, but to ask for cash.

I didn’t give that asshole a red penny. In fact, I put a restraining order on him and when I made it big, I changed mine, mom’s, and Kitty’s last name legally so he can’t find them or look them up.

I got into fighting because of him, but I don’t want to be anything like him. I hope I’m nothing like him.

For one, I’d never hurt a woman. I’d never terrify and beat a child.

No. I’m nothing like that piece of shit, and I remind myself of that every day.

Thank God I have the look of my mother, that’s all I can say.
