Chapter Nine

Ryder

Spending time with my family’s always good. Having my boys walk in on me after I’ve fucked their mom on the kitchen counter—not so good. It isn’t like they don’t know about sex. We’ve had the talk. Brielle just doesn’t know the boys and I talked. They needed to know, especially after I heard Marcus and Micah talking about these girls they liked. My boys were growing up, and I wasn’t gonna allow them to do anything stupid because of teenage hormones.

Yesterday, once the shock of seeing their mom and me wore off, we all ended up having a good day. Lucy wanted us to watch Mulan with her. It’s her favorite movie. She might be partially deaf, but it doesn’t hold her back. Lucy’s smart at her age. We’ve been teaching her to read lips alongside sign language. This helps her enjoy things more often.

Brielle started talking about plans for Lucy’s party, and the boys got in on the action. They wanted to get her—her own bike like what I got for them. Only she’s still way too young, but I have an idea of what to do. My woman doesn’t want to do this. Still, it’s a gift our boys wanna give their sister, so she won’t say ‘no’.

To say Lucy has her brothers wrapped around her little finger is an understatement. Shit, Lucy, Wren, and Brook all have the older boys wrapped around their fingers. It’s hilarious. The three girls are screwed when they get to the age of dating because none of them are gonna be happy to find out they ain’t gonna be allowed with any boys.

Call it hypocritical. I don’t give a fuck. I know what boys are like, and I’m not about to let anyone hurt my little girl.

Stepping into the room where we hold church—I take my seat. Fuse found some information we need to go over. Hopefully, it’ll be something about who the fuck would hurt those women. Chains bangs the gavel down and leans back in his seat.

“First order of business,” Chains states. “We all know about the girls at the gates. What I wanna know is why the fuck the prospect wasn’t there?” I’d asked him to hold off on speaking to Rig. I already know what the hell happened, and I wanted to bring it to the table.

Sitting forward, I clasp my hands together as I brace my elbows on the table. “Rig was supposed to be at the gates keeping watch.”

“What’s Rig excuse?” Breaker demands furiously.

Sighing, I shake my head. Yeah, I’m disappointed in the kid, but being that he’s just turned twenty, I get him somewhat as well. “Rig went to his room to grab something he forgot to make sure he had with him before going on duty. On his way back, Bart refused to let him pass.”

“Forgot to grab what?” Brake asks, furrowing his brow.

“Kid found out he’s got diabetes not too long ago and is adjusting to having to keep his monitor
