Go Visiting!

You can observe birds and listen to their songs in many public places. Here are a few examples:

Public gardens: large flower gardens should give you a chance to watch hummingbirds as they hover from one bloom to another.

Science museums or nature centers: these will probably have indoor exhibits about the local birds and may also have outdoor exhibits, trails, or guided tours.

State and national parks: there will be hiking trails and probably a gift center with booklets or leaflets about the wildlife to be found there. There is usually a variety of habitat areas to visit, so you may see and hear several different species.

Lake and seashore parks: ducks, geese, and swans are just a few types of water-birds you might see. Gulls and terns may also be diving into the water for fish.

City parks or animal parks: large public parks can give you the chance to observe some colorful nonnative birds, such as peacocks.
