Something Big, Something Meaningful

When an ocean of stars drowns the night sky as far as

the eye can see, it is in those scarce and fleeting moments

we can marvel at the universe and its infinity.

What is often dubbed as peace, serenity or harmonious

vibration can be captured in the sweet rhythm of

melodious heartbeats in spiritual collaboration.

We seek nirvana for some incredibly transitory

period of time while simultaneously living in a world

where happiness is often divided between yours and mine.

The essence of our higher self is often lost in the

trappings of material accumulation, giving precious

little energy to our soul and its sacred stimulation.

Often lost is the understanding that every passing moment

is a gift to never return, a reminder that without exception,

we all travel a path with an ultimate sojourn.

While we are all unique, infinitesimal, indispensable and

irreplaceable beams of light that are at best momentary, how we honor ourselves and others remains consistent as our lifelong guiding query.

Each of us brings something to our space

that otherwise would not be.

It is for that reason alone that we are all

indebted to the presence of grace and mercy.

While each of us stands as but microscopic particles

in the context of universal possibility, we often have to

come to terms with; we all draw breath but for the

outcome of divine responsibility.

What is a Spiritual Anchor?

A spiritual anchor is the place you turn to that helps you navigate the most complicated and meaningful questions in your life. For some, their spiritual anchor is simply their religious beliefs and their holy book. While your spiritual anchor is yours and yours alone, it should be understood that it certainly could be more than your religious beliefs. Your spiritual anchor is more than the Supreme Being you may or may not believe in. Your spiritual anchor is in part the avenue by which you give yourself worth, the mechanism by which you assign worth to others and how you evaluate growth internally and in other people. Your spiritual anchor should include your religious beliefs but it also could include more decisions that belong solely to you. Your spiritual anchor is your connection to not only your Creator but also to the ideas, principles and people that help to give your life meaning. Your spiritual anchor is the connection you have with the things that provide you with a deep sense of meaning about what and who you are and strive to be. For some, being a good Christian, Muslim, Jew, etc., represents a comprehensive understanding of all their anchor needs to be. While prayer, meditation and faith are all essential components of any spiritual understanding, they are sometimes not sufficient all by themselves. Your spiritual anchor should also have a personal and identity development component to it. Inviting the exploration of not just what it means to be a good member of your religion but why you think it’s important to be so. Furthermore, it may be helpful for us to give consideration to the unique talents and abilities we bring to any situation in which we find ourselves.
