Shayleigh

I took refuge in my room until I calmed down. I wasn’t angry anymore but my body was still aching for his touch. While desire consumed me, a hint of despair had me curled up in my bed disbelieving what I let Kai do to me. And what I did to him.

“How did it get to that point?” I murmured to myself.

My skin was welted by his passion and my core with the pearls of wisdom of his tongue and fingers. The pleasure was too recent to forget and the taste of him lingered in my mouth.

I could only be going crazy. It was the only explanation.

I lay there as if dead, but it had been done and there was nothing I could do to erase it. I needed to be strong, face my weakness head-on and prevent it from happening again.

Slowly, I got up, replaced his black shirt with one of my own, and padded down the hall to William’s room. His music was on. It was loud but not enough to disrupt the neighbors. I stormed in and found him lying on a black puff, playing on the Xbox. He was so focused on the screen and the motorcycle game that he didn’t notice me.

I searched for the source of the music and found that it was coming from a speaker next to his laptop. I lowered the screen and the rattle ceased. The sudden silence made my ears ring.

That’s when he noticed me and paused the game. “I was listening to that,” William complained.

I went to the outlet where I pulled out all the cables and wires from the television and the console and it switched everything off at once.

“You’re grounded until I feel like you’re no longer grounded. And there will be no loud music, no computer, no games, and the only place you’re allowed to go is to school. Disobey me and I’ll change the Wi-Fi password and confiscate your phone as well.”

“You can’t do that. That’s my stuff.”

“I can and I will until you learn to respect me. You were way out of line today, William, and that’s not acceptable. I’ve been easy on you but you’re pushing it.”

“You’re not the boss of me.”

His words sliced through me like a sharp blade. I really had lost control over him. But I didn’t show any fragility or remorse. “Really?” I started collecting all the electronic devices I could find in his room.

His eyes flashed with anger. “Why are you being like this?”

“It’s what you get for lying to me, and you should stay away from Kai.”

Snorting, he got up and we were almost nose to nose. “I knew it.”

“Knew what?”

“You’re all upset because I was with the Ashfords. That’s why I didn’t tell you anything.”

A slight panic settled in my stomach and I tossed everything in my hand on his bed. “William, this has nothing to do with the Ashfords.”

“It does. I’m not stupid, Mom. I see the way you react whenever I’m around them.
