CHAPTER EIGHT: DO THE RIGHT THING
O n the way back to drop me off, we stayed very quiet. Played good music. He held my hand and kept it by his mouth the whole ride. Kissing it off and on. Did I just find my prince charming? I knew after this moment everything was going to change. I had to live it up as long as I could so I would have memories to go off of for the future to come.
We finally got back to our quarters. He dropped me off right where he found me.
âWell isnât this nice.â
âWhat?â I Asked
âInstead of picking you up on a corner I am dropping you off at one.â He said trying not to laugh. âGo make me some money.â He said slapping my ass as I started to get out.
âOh my goodness.â I just started to laugh and shake my head.
âHey Mel.â
âYes Atlas.â I said rolling my eyes.
âI love you baby.â
I ran to his side of the car grabbing his chin to give him a kiss. âI love you too.â
He looked into my eyes and slowly peeled off into the moonlight. I started to walk back to the quarters just thinking about what I was going to do. I figured I had two weeks and I needed to figure something out, but now. The weekend was just so amazing I did not want to mess any of those memories up.
The next day would not go as well. We got to work and found out horrible news. They wanted him to relocate and keep me in the âofficeâ to control things.
This had to be because of the CIA, it just had to be Radinson behind this. He told me two weeks, not two hours. I was heartbroken. I had to remember jobs come first in this line of work, which also killed me because I knew I would have to tell him.
He was going back to Rio and even though I did not believe he was the bad guy, people out there did. I had lived out this lie for long enough. I needed to get back on my main mission too. Still, something felt wrong. All the sudden they want him away from me when my mission is to kill him.
It was all downhill from there. In one night, I had to change everything. I knew this whole relocation bullshit was the CIAâs doing and if I did not get the courage to come clean he would find out another way and then I would be done for.
That night I decided what I needed to do. I needed to tell him the truth. I called him and asked if he could meet me at my place.
The doorbell rang, I felt as though my heart stopped.
I dragged my bare feet across the cold floor, feeling as though I was walking to my deathbed.
I very slowly opened the door, âHey baby â¦â
âAre you ok Mel you sounded well not like you and you look like shit.
