Finally, add an expectation such that the element text matches the updated scope property value following the navigation:expect(el.getText()).toEqual('1');

If you now run Protractor, then you should see that there has been a test run with one assertion and no failures.

How it works…

The sequence of events is similar to the Testing interactive scope changes with Protractor recipe in this chapter. The click action in step 3 triggers the button in the DOM to dispatch the click event passing a value of 1, in this example. If the state navigation works as we expect, then EmceeCtrl will assign the $stateParams id property to the $scope id property. We confirm this in step 5 using the getText action to retrieve the text value for the matcher.
