Ellie started to get annoyed. Why wasn’t the remote working? She had to think of something un-extraordinary. “Think,” she said, clicking the button over and over, “think, think . . . THINK!”

Click. She saw the baby hippo she had saved at the zoo. Click. She saw the soccer net she’d kicked the ball through. Click. She saw her Most Helpful Citizen ribbon from the mayor.

After one last click, a picture of the Ultra Remote appeared in Ellie’s mind.

“Huh?” Ellie said. That didn’t make any sense. With a frustrated sigh, she gave up and stuffed the remote away. Her parents had probably goofed when building it. Even geniuses made mistakes. That, along with asking questions, was how they got so smart.

Ellie trudged back to class. By the time she returned, all of her classmates had pages filled with ideas. Sinking into her seat, Ellie came face-to-face with one of the greatest challenges she’d ever faced — the Blank Page of Doom.
