Even though much of accounting can be managed via computer software, it is still important to maintain a basic accounting filing system for physical receipts and other sensitive paperwork. Many small businesses can accommodate their accounting records using only four filing cabinets: one for assets, one for liabilities, another for equity, and the fourth for owner’s capital accounts.
