Chicago and Ireland were on a private jet back to Diamond Cove. Brooklyn was seventeen days old, and she weighed five pounds four ounces. Even though the doctor gave the okay for her to fly to North Carolina, Chicago still hired a private nurse to take the trip with them. The way he doted on his daughter, Ireland already knew that she was going to have him wrapped around her finger. She would definitely need to try for a son because she was willing to bet her last dollar that Brooklyn was going to be a daddy’s girl.

Ireland was a little salty that none of her girls came along for the ride. She knew it was a busy time of year and maybe she was just being emotional, but while she was in Hawaii, no one had time for her. Even her sister was acting a little janky. Any time Ireland called, no one answered the phone or if they did, they would talk to her for a few minutes and then be rushing her off the phone. She wanted to think she was being dramatic, but Ireland was in her feelings.

Being that Brooklyn was in the NICU, Chicago nor Ireland had lost out on any sleep. They were well rested when they picked their baby up from the hospital, and they knew that was about to come to an end but neither of them minded. When the jet arrived at the hangar, there was a car waiting to take them home. Ireland wasn’t going to text anybody when she got home. Maybe she was being petty, but they could keep being busy. She’d enjoy her baby and spend time with her man. Ireland was alternating between checking her phone and watching Chicago feed Brooklyn, so she didn’t notice they weren’t headed home until they pulled up at one of the most elite hotels in Diamond Cove. The cheapest room at Ustead was around $300 a night.

“What are we doing here?” Ireland looked over at Chicago confused.

“It’s a surprise,” he winked as the driver pulled up to the entrance.

Ireland was very curious and because of that, she didn’t let her agitation show, but she wanted to go home. They had just spent three weeks in Hawaii, and she missed her dog and her bed. The Ustead was beautiful, but Ireland was tired of hotels and Airbnb’s. The driver opened her door and though she wanted to protest, Ireland exited the car. She knew Chicago well enough to know that if he wanted to surprise her, she was going to get surprised. She followed him inside and when he stopped at the front desk, she had to count to ten in her head. All she wanted to know was why they were at a hotel instead of their home which was only fifteen minutes away.

After about five minutes, Chicago walked towards her and handed her a key card. “You have a presidential suite. The room number is in this holder. I’ll take Brooklyn with me.
