I almost lost my composure and ran when I entered the cafeteria and spotted the guys there. I held myself back only because I knew Hannah would tell Ferrer, and I couldn’t afford that.
I was late. Everyone else was already seated and eating, so I quickly made my way through the line, barely paying any attention to what the cook was serving me. The orderly stopped me from going to my guys when I reached the end, but after scanning the room and seeing that theirs was the only table with room, he waved me off.
I was beaming as I slid onto the bench seat between Mason and Pierce, but my grin died a quick, confused death when Mason made a startled sound as my thigh brushed his. He looked at me with a mix of discomfort and mild distaste before he put his hands on my shoulder and bodily scooted me away from him and closer to Pierce so that we were no longer pressed together.
“No touchy,” he chided, attempting to soften the stinging rejection with a grimacing smile.
I was gaping up at him, both hurt and bewildered, when Pierce chuckled on my other side.
“Be nice. She probably just didn’t know it was you,” he said.
Mason scoffed and gently patted his hair. “As if Mason would take the time to fix his hair into such perfection.”
I hadn’t noticed in my rush to join them, but he was right. I’d never seen Mason with his hair fixed.
“Ah. Sorry… Jason. I didn’t recognize you at first,” I apologized. “You look very nice today.”
“Oh thank you, honey! They’ve got shit for product here, but I do what I can,” he beamed, sitting a little straighter and smoothing out his t-shirt.
Pierce snorted and picked me up with his hands on my hips, settling me sideways on his lap. Brushing my hair over my shoulder, he dipped his head and placed a soft, teasing kiss on my neck then whispered in my ear, “I have a surprise for you, Little Flower.”
I felt his surprise against my ass and bit my lip, feeling a rush of warmth spread through me. Turning slowly so we were almost nose to nose, I squirmed a little. I heard his breath hitch right before he let out a low groan and watched as his pupils swelled, making his already dark eyes even darker.
“I like surprises,” I whispered back.
Pierce’s gaze dropped to my mouth, a sharp, hungry look tightening his features. He leaned forward slowly and tasted me, his tongue grazing the seam of my lips before he nipped me. That quick bite had my pulse tripling and sent a delicious shiver down my spine.
“That surprise comes later,” he murmured in a low, rasping voice. “For now, I have something different in mind.”
With that, I felt him move one of his hands from my hip before it appeared between us, holding a cookie. I gasped, and my eyes widened. I had no idea where he’d gotten it, but I also didn’t care.
