“Josh?” The voice floated to him through a fog and Josh blinked his eyes and focused at the man in the doorway to his office. Once again he had been lost in thoughts of Jack who he hadn’t seen or heard from in almost three weeks.

“Jonathon, what are you doing here?” he said, smiling as he stood up.

“Decided to take the tour. Are you ready for next week? Officially open for business and everything.”

“Yep. I even have a few appointments already. So what have you seen so far?”

“Everything, I think. To be honest, it all begins to look alike after a while. Charmagne is thrilled about the maternity ward. Last time they had to rush her to Denver to give birth. This way, she can do it right here.”

Since it was Thursday and Jonathon was done with the tour, they elected to go to lunch. The Pit was out—Josh wasn’t ready to hit it again, it would only remind him of Jack—but Jonathon recommended Endelé, which ended up being perfect.

“Shit that’s hot,” Josh said, drinking half of his soda to try and stem the flames licking at his tongue.

“Yep. They do Mexican food right here.”

Besides telling Jonathon that their double dating was off because he and Jack weren’t dating anymore, he hadn’t said anything and thankfully the other man hadn’t asked. But it seemed the time for sitting back was over. “I promised myself I wouldn’t ask because I know I would hate it, but you’ve been miserable for weeks. What happened with Jack? Was it because he’s in the closet?”

Coughing a laugh, Josh shook his head. If it had only been that simple. Hell, Jack had broken his own stance to take Josh out to dinner. “It had to do with discipline.”

Jonathon, hand halfway to his mouth with a chip doused in salsa, stopped. “Jack’s as dominant as Brent. I don’t understand.”

“He doesn’t believe in disciplining someone. We talked about it and while he was okay with spanking me for sex, he couldn’t imagine doing it for any other reason. It was a line he drew and, well…” Josh shrugged, taking another drink of soda. “I really liked him.”

“I could tell.” Jonathon ate his chip and after a drink of water, he shook his head. “It’s surprising that Brent’s own brother would be so against it. They seem so similar.”

“Ah well,” Josh said with a fake laugh, wanting off the topic. “Hey, has anyone ever requested another mentor?”

“Well, you’re just surprising me all over the place today. Yes, it can be done. Anthony not working out?”

“We just don’t mesh. And while he’s nice, I don’t think he has a clue. When I tried to explain why I was so down, his response was maybe I was involved with the wrong sex.”

Jonathon choked on the food he was eating and spit it into a napkin. “He what?”

“Yeah, he seemed to think I should have a female top.” As if. Josh was gay, always had been, and there was no fucking way he was putting himself under the guidance of a woman.
