Chapter 14

I went to see Jimmy Coleman a couple of days later, and remembered why I hadn't called him.

I didn't have the courage.

Jimmy Coleman is six-foot-three, with dark wavy hair, and the most gorgeous blue eyes I've ever seen. The minute I walked into his office, I remembered him. I met him in a bar one night, and drank myself silly trying to get up the guts to ask him for a date. All I got was his phone number and a hangover, and by the time I was over the hangover, I was too chicken to use the phone number.

When I walked in there that day, he looked at me (which destroyed me) and said, "I know you, don't I?"

I owned up. He remembered the incident.

"Too bad you didn't use your real name," he said. "I have a thing for Jewish boys."

Aha! I thought. It's never too late. For the first time in weeks, things were looking up.

Anyway, I filled him in on the situation, and we more or less agreed on a plan of attack. He'd see Aunt Sylvia, and go through a lot of clucking and hair-pulling over the tragedy that has befallen her. Also, he'd agree that I needed help (which I did—I needed all the help I could get in getting Jimmy Coleman into bed!) but that he'd have to know a lot more about me before he could undertake to straighten me out. Will she be willing to come in and talk about me? If she won't, fine! But if she will, well, all I can say is watch out, Aunt Sylvia—you may think it's my head that's getting shrunk, but it's really going to be yours!
