Nathan shuts the front door.

Another guy closing the door on me. Except this time I asked him to.

I’m not sure what I’m doing; here I am in Newhope trying to make a fresh start but it’s left me feeling nearly as blue as I did in the city.

It’s just not in my game plan to get involved with someone. But Nathan is just so gorgeous. But that’s not enough - is it?

We’re opposites. I’m artistic and impulsive, he’s practical and logical, I’ve moved around a lot, he’s lived in this little town all his life. But maybe I’m just judging him too soon? Should I get to know him better? But then I’m running the risk of falling for him and...it feels like I’m going round in circles.

I get my laptop out and open Facebook.

I’ll just add Nathan so I can have a little snoop on his profile. Except the first thing I see on my feed is Cory’s smiling face. Cory’s grinning alongside his stunning new girlfriend, who is proudly holding up her hand, on which a large, sparkling diamond engagement ring is perched.

This is so wrong.

I left this shit behind me in the city.

I should have blocked Cory when I left. Seeing his self-satisfied grin brings back those awful dark nights when I was on my own, wondering why I wasn’t good enough for him.

Time to do what I should have done months ago - I block him. Staring at the screen, I search for Nathan’s profile and make a friend request.

A new start. Except maybe this isn’t what I should be doing; no men allowed. My head is all over the place and I’m not sure what the best way forward is anymore.

Sighing, I shut my laptop. I have an order for an ice-dancing duo which I have to finish by the end of the day, so that will keep me busy. Time to stop thinking and start sewing.

It’s 10pm by the time I’ve finished the last flounce on the dancers’ costumes - they’re made in an aquatic theme and designed to look like scaly fish - and the storm has arrived with some dramatic thunder and lightning, which has now turned into heavy rain. Nathan’s done such a good job of repairing the roof that I’m happy to work in the study now, and although the wind is really picking up, I feel safe in this crazy little house. I can’t believe I thought it was creepy when I arrived.

As I get up I notice Nathan’s left his canvas toolbelt on the corner of the chair; I’d thrown the costumes on it when I came in so I didn’t notice it at first. Picking it up, it looks a little threadbare. I can’t resist taking it to the machine and in thirty minutes I’ve strengthened the seams and added some patches where the pockets were getting worn.

I grab my cell and text him:

Hey, you left your toolbelt behind...let me know when you want to pick
