Sarah MAY
POETRY
Sarah May () was born in Hong Kong and is of mixed Korean and PÄkehÄ heritage. She is currently studying English and Psychology at the University of Auckland.
âWater tortureâ is about revealing a terrible secret. Sarah says she âfirst heard about the awful, insanity-inducing dripping of âChinese water tortureâ in primary school â though I have since learnt it was likely invented by an Italian lawyer â and the memory of it floats up whenever I experience an agonising moment like this. Seconds seem to tick at uneven intervals, like droplets on a waiting forehead.â
