The “Spirit Body”

The third body that resides within each of us is called the “Spirit Body”, the “Super-Conscious”, “Pure Spirit” or, occasionally, the “Spark of the Divine”. Many cultures believe that the spirit body resides within the “heart chakra” which is located in the heart area of the physical body.

The spirit body knows everything the physical and etheric bodies know but, in addition, it knows of all of the incarnations that a person has had or ever will have and how those incarnations mesh with all of the incarnations of everyone and everything outside of it. The record of all of these things is said to reside within a place on a higher plane of existence called the “Akashic Library” or the “Akashic Hall of Records”. All of the incarnations (lives) of every living thing in the Universe and beyond are recorded in the Akashic Library.

You can liken the spirit body to a biological single cell. Just as millions of different cells (brain cells, blood cells, etc.) make up the whole of your body, all of the spirit bodies of everyone (indeed, every, single thing that contains a spark of life) -- when taken all together -- make up the body of God. Thus, there is a tiny piece of the Divine in each one of us.

Because of its connection with the Divine, the spirit body knows the “lesson(s)” each soul must learn and it then decides under what circumstances the soul will be reborn and what physical form it should take to best learn that lesson. If the lesson would be better learned by a female, the spirit body will direct the incarnation to be female. If the lesson would be better learned by a physical body that is handicapped in some way (such as to help the soul learn the virtue of “patience”), it will direct that to happen, as well.

The spirit body also chooses the parents and family to whom the physical body will be born and, if it is important as part of the lesson that the physical body must learn in this lifetime, it will also choose the location where the physical body will be born and raised.

There are also group dynamics at work in many incarnations which involve other people and the lessons they are supposed to be learning -- sometimes in conjunction with a lesson or lessons that an entire group must experience as a whole to learn.
