Recognize that while you want to impress, you can’t appear to be more important than your interviewer. That person, at least in the context of the interview, is the master of your fate. You want to allow that person to luxuriate in the feeling of power and competence, and at the same time to enjoy talking with you. So you don’t want to dominate. Nor do you want to sit there passively, forcing your interviewer to do all the work. Ultimately, you want the interviewer to feel good about you—and great about himself.
