24. Visualize What You Want

The power of positive thinking or creative visualization is what many in the esoteric sciences call “using the laws of attraction.” In many ancient traditions the mix of meditation and visualizing an end goal is common to their texts but the Chinese philosophers by unravelling the secret uses of focus and harmony were one of the first to make use of creative visualization to enact amazing physical feats with mental training and martial arts.

Through the harmony of yin and yang, the universe makes itself manifest. One of the most basic laws of the universe is this: like attracts like. From the smallest atom to the largest star all things with the same nature are drawn inexorably to each other. Like Taoists, those who follow the ideals of the yin yang strive for balance and harmony in their lives. One must strive to balance work and play and indulgence and discipline in order to lead a calm and harmonious life. Calm thoughts therefore beget a calm life.

Creative visualization simply makes use of this principle by thinking into reality what you would like to happen. It may sound a complete denial of reality but mystics, scholars of the occult, wizards and mages have been using it for centuries. In modern times, sports coaches and fitness trainers have been getting results with it for years.

The basic premise of creative visualization is that thoughts have power and humanity does it all subconsciously. Those who are constantly thinking that they are unlucky, unloved, unattractive, actually reinforce these and make it their reality. Always despondent that you seem to attract the wrong kind of man or woman? That only makes your assumption stronger, and the universe responds accordingly.

By thinking and training yourself to take five minutes to begin each day by imagining or visualizing the life you want, these good things WILL happen. The laws of the universe guarantee it. Make it a part of your regular routine and you create the positive energy to make it possible. Imagine yourself fortunate, cherished, beautiful will make it so.

The hows of it are not important, the universe will take care of that. And if you are in harmony with your chi, then the chances of good things happening earlier and with more intensity are adjusted tenfold. Simply focus on what you want and enjoy how it makes you feel. For example, if you want to buy a new car but don’t know how simply imagine yourself driving the exact car you want, its color and model, enjoying it as you take to the road and feel the plush seats. Do it for five minutes everyday.

Make sure that you only use this technique to create harmony, happiness and opportunity for yourself and others. Using it to wish harm, ill-luck and disaster on others defeats its purpose and brings you out of balance with the harmony of yin and yang. Doing so creates discord in the natural balance and will in turn return the bad energy to you tenfold.
