174. LIFT YOUR LEGS. During inverted yoga postures, the blood rushes down toward the head, bathing the brain in life-giving oxygen. This can energize body and spirit. Lie on your back and lean your legs against a wall. Lightly clasp your hands a few inches above your head, on the floor. Your arms should form a diamond. Breathe deeply and evenly. Lie like this for ten minutes. Performed before bedtime, this position is a good way to encourage restful sleep.

175. ADOPT THE POSE OF THE CHILD – a classic yoga resting posture. Based on the foetal position, this pose is calming and nurturing, and particularly helpful if you are experiencing difficult emotions, such as fear or anxiety. Begin by kneeling down, buttocks resting on your heels, with your spine straight and your arms by your sides. Exhaling, fold forward from your hips, bringing your chest to rest on your thighs and your forehead onto the floor. Let your hands slide back toward your feet and your arms rest on the floor. Close your eyes and breathe gently and evenly until any difficult feelings begin to subside.
