Managing and Securing QlikView Documents

The Select Category field, which defaults to a value of Default, is searchable by users in the AccessPoint. It is also used to display the document's reload status in QMC.

The Document Description field is a free text field that allows you to specify information about the document that the users can view in AccessPoint.

The Attributes property can be totally arbitrary and is searchable in AccessPoint.

It can also be used to serve other functions, such as enabling offline functionality in the QlikView iPad client.

The user will see any description information that you enter, clients that the document can be opened with, and any attribute displayed in a pop-up window when they click on the view details link in AccessPoint.

Chapter 4

QlikView Server reload tasks

Without a Publisher license, we can still configure and run one reload task per document on the QlikView Server. The following triggers can be configured for this reload task:

Trigger

Description

Hourly

Not strictly hourly, this will execute every x hours and y minutes. It could be every 1 minute.

Daily

The task is triggered every day at the specified time.

Weekly

The task is triggered once per week on the specified day

at the specified time.

Monthly

The task is triggered once per month on the specified day

of the month (1 to 31 or "Last Day") at the specified time.

Continuously

The task runs, completes, then runs again, repeatedly.

This could potentially affect server resources.

On Event from Another

Whether another task is successful or has failed, this task Task

kicks off. This allows us to chain multiple tasks together.

On an External Event

Event Driven Execution, EDX (refer to the next section).

There are some other settings that are not related to the triggers: Setting

Description

Timeout seconds

The time before a reload task is considered to have

timed out and hence failed.

Dependency

Allows you to specify one other task that must have

completed successfully on its last attempt before

this task will be allowed to trigger.

Data Protection

If your document is accessed by QlikView users

with Section Access (rather than specifying the

QlikView service user under NTNAME), you can

specify the credentials to open the document here.

That user must have reload rights.
