Note: Use the most appropriate response based on your personal situation, and tailor the context appropriately.
After being let go from my previous company, I took some time off to reflect on what is important to me in my career, and to ensure I had time to update my skills and perspective ahead of moving into my next role.
It was important to me to ensure our children had a parent at home to ensure we established a solid foundation for their growth and development; now that they are <XYZ> I am ready to re-enter the work force and contribute my skills and experience to the success of your company.
AVOID : I’ve been interviewing for the last <XYZ> months / looking for a position.
