HARD-WORKING HANDS
No matter how much outward care is lavished on the hands, if the body is not properly nourished, the fingernails will be the first indicator of poor diet. Drinking 8 glasses of water daily keeps the body properly hydrated and prevents dry skin and flaky nails.
When using any implements on infected nails, it is important to keep them away from healthy nails.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
Buff nails with a chamois leather buffer to stimulate circulation and strengthen them.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
Straight acetone used to remove nail varnish can dry and split nails. Nail enamel removers have special oils added to prevent damage to the nails. Refrain from peeling off old enamel as a layer of nail can also come off.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
âBeautiful hands are those that do deeds that are noble, good, and true.â

To avoid nails breaking, keep them fairly short, especially when using a keyboard. Use a pencil to dial numbers on the telephone and never use nails to pry open compacts, or to untie laces or string.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
Shape nails by filing into smooth, rounded ovals, but leave growth at the sides so that the nails donât in-grow and cause infection. File one way only, from side to center. Back and forth filing shreds nail fibers.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
Do not bite the nails as this leaves them ragged and unsightly; deterrent solutions are available to stop the habit.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
Leave nails free of nail varnish occasionally. Constant use, especially without a colorless base-coat, can cause yellowing of the nails. Refrain from smoking, as this will also stain the nails. Stained nails should be brushed twice daily with lemon juice followed by white wine vinegar, then massage with almond oil.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
An excellent conditioner for nails is a soak for 10 minutes in hot almond, castor, wheat-germ, or baby oil.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
To help nails strengthen and grow, mix 1 tablespoon almond oil with a packet of unflavored gelatin, or blend 1 tablespoon cider vinegar with 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 egg yolk. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Massage into the nails twice daily to restore brittle nails.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
For a moisturizing nail cream, mix together 1 teaspoon each of avocado, liquid honey, and 1 egg yolk. Rub into and around the fingernails, then rinse off after 30 minutes.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
Massaging or buffing nails helps improve circulation and stimulates growth.
⢠⢠⢠â¢
Buff nails with a little almond oil or beeswax on a piece of soft, closely woven, natural cloth wrapped around a cotton ball or with a nail buffer which has a soft pad covered in fine leather.
