Bok is a former president of Harvard who has plenty to say about why skills for careers and citizenship are not at the top of the list of most faculty members.

Secrets of College Success: Over 600 Tips and Tricks Revealed by Lynn F. Jacobs and Jeremy S. Hyman (Jossey-Bass, 2010). This book is mentioned in chapter 1, but it’s also helpful in navigating the academic choices you will have to make. Check out the authors’ website (see below).
