THE STORY

I swear this dish tastes better when you know the story of how I got the recipe. I was in New Orleans waiting in line at the dry cleaners. I was at the dry cleaners because of an unfortunate accident the night before involving a very inebriated person at a Mardi Gras parade. Waiting in line with me was a charming older lady who asked if I knew how to make Barbeque Shrimp. When I said that I did not, she recited this recipe from memory. She told me it was her favorite dish and an old family secret. I don’t know what inspired her to make me the lucky recipient of the recipe, but I couldn’t wait to get home and make it. When we were younger, my friends called it “the boyfriend catcher”! I think it could also be “the girlfriend catcher” if used appropriately by a handsome gentleman.
