Right now, Jarvis and I were at his mother’s house, after just coming back from the doctor’s office to find out that I was four weeks pregnant. I swear it was a damn shame that Jarvis knew my damn body better than I did. I mean, this man knew right off the bat that I was pregnant once he caught me throwing up in the stall a few weeks ago at our son’s birthday party. This pregnancy, I already knew that I had to be very careful because Lord knows that I couldn’t have another episode of what happened to me in my last pregnancy. I swear, I still have nightmares about that damn dog and falling down those stairs. I often find myself thinking about that day, just thinking about what the hell would have happened if I had Javari with me that day.

Anyway, on a more positive note, this pregnancy right here is super special. Jarvis was incarcerated during my first pregnancy, and my second one, Jarvis wasn’t really fuckin’ with me like that, but he was still going to doctor appointments with me. For as long as Jarvis and I have been together, I feel like this is the first time ever that we are actually getting it right. I mean, this Jarvis Banks right here even allows me to pick up his phone when it rings and even go through his shit. The old Jarvis Banks would have killed my ass dead if I even looked as if I was going to answer his phone. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m very appreciative of the faithful man that I have now.

Bitches think that shit is cute when a man cheats and you continue to take him back because he drops you off some dick and money, but honestly, as women, we have to learn to stop being so weak and put our foot down. Show these niggas that we’re worth more than that, and that he isn’t the only man in this world that we could have. That’s pretty much what I had to do with Jarvis. It fucked his pride up badly to see me with Chad and to even be engaged to him. Niggas will make you swear to them that you would never give their pussy away, so the fact that I had given another man what Jarvis had been claiming for years, just didn’t sit well with him.

“Well, damn, son! Now, all you got to do is chew the shit up and feed it to her,” Jarvis’s mother, Regina said to Jarvis, causing me to burst out laughing.

We were sitting at the island in her kitchen, and Jarvis was feeding me soup.

“Ma, quit hating on a nigga,” Jarvis told his mother, putting another spoon filled with noodles and broth into my mouth.

“I never could stand the two of y’all anyways,” she said, laughing.

I knew what she was referring to because in our younger days, I didn’t care if Regina was around, I would still be all over her son.
