How could I say no to that? It was actually easier than dinner. I wouldn’t be forced to talk to him, and pretend to enjoy his company.

Closing my phone, I stuffed it back in my pocket just as I walked up the three steps into our section. Jace had his face buried in Lindsay’s titties, and she was giggling, thinking everything was funny. Both of them were drunk, but still coherent about the things going on around them.

“Where you been?” Lindsay asked. She lifted her bottle of water and took a sip.

“Bathroom.”

“Damn, you had to shit or something?” Jace laughed.

I sucked my teeth, and sat down in the corner of the couch. I was ready to go. Dana had fucked up my mood, and I just wanted my bed. Looking around, I realized she was nowhere around. I wanted to ask where she was, but it was probably better if I didn’t know.

“Jace, can we go? I’m tired, and my feet hurt,” I spoke up, pushing his arm to get his attention.

“Yeah, man. Let’s ride. Dana already hauled ass; we were just waiting on you.”

“She left?” I questioned.

“Came back from her private dance with an attitude. Guess ole girl wasn’t worth the money, so she said she was dipping. Come on,” he replied. He stood up, and Lindsay intertwined her fingers with his.

Jace led the way out of the club, telling a few people that he would see them around. As we all climbed in his truck, I put my head back and closed my eyes. I felt wound up like a tight wire. I wanted to scream. Dana came in like a tornado, causing nothing but chaos in my world, and then she just left without another word. I was beyond confused.

Your ass better snatch her up before someone else does. These bitches are savages.

Those words played over and over in my head as Jace rapped along to the music, and Lindsay amped him up. Their love was sickening. Once we made it home, I was the first one inside and went straight to the bathroom, needing a quick shower before I climbed in my bed. I was sure that Jace and Lindsay were going to be up for a while, so my earplugs would be necessary if I wanted to get any sleep.

An hour later, I was laying in bed, wide awake, and hearing the music from Lindsay’s room, even through my earplugs. I pulled them out and replaced them with my earbuds, turning my own playlist on and closing my eyes.

Dana, if you can hear me…if you can feel me…I’m sorry. I’m so damn sorry.

Rolling over and pressing my face into the pillow, I screamed into it and dug my nails into the mattress. I wanted her. I wanted her to be mine. The effort that it took to deny Dana was eating away at me. It stole a small piece of my heart every single time I had to push her away. It pierced my soul when I saw the sadness in her eyes.
