It has dawned on me as

I forget about Maddox

and what he did as I let

Anthony take it all away.

I don’t know why I do it

when I know that it’s wrong.

Something inside of me is

broken and I don’t know

what sort of doctor can

fix me. It’s wrong what I

am doing, letting Anthony

fall in love with me when I

have someone else waiting for

me at home.

At home.

The feeling inside of

me feels something

like regret, but I’m

not sure if I can be-

lieve my own feelings

anymore.

“We should go on a date

sometime.”

Smoke billows from Anthony’s

nose and mouth, but I see

the nervousness in the way

his cheeks flush pink.

“Okay, sure.”

He doesn’t make me pay

for the cigarettes or the

weed, or the pills, and if

I stop letting him think

that we are something more

than what we are, he might

stop.

And then I’ll be left alone

with the thoughts I try

my hardest to erase with

all the things Anthony

gives me.

“Cool.”

“Cool.”

And the bell rings.
