Liberty 4 T 3.5 ton

USA 1916-18 The name ‘Liberty Truck’ was applied to several American vehicles in WW1. Although they maintained their own names they were deliberately built to use interchangeable parts. Surprising as it may seem this had never been considered and the problems of maintaining supplies for the multiplicity of different

marques was a major logistical problem. Almost all the American Truck manufacturers were involved in creating the essential structure of the vehicles and 3 -ton versions were built. Later heavier 5 tons were fitted with sixwheels.

Not all of these were built in the USA, and many were constructed in France under License. At War’s end the vehicles were left in France and several companies used these as the basis for their own trucking operations.
