You can blame the sharp changes to the Stonetalon Mountains on both the goblin Venture Company and the Cataclysm (again). First came lumber and mining operations the Venture Company dishonestly carried out in the mountains, leaving every cliff barren in their wake. Then came the lava flows and rampant wildfires, which consumed anything that remained.
