Chapter Fifteen

Ivy

I didn’t know whether to be horrified or intrigued that he had mentioned my nightstand. As soon as I heard him walking down the stairs, I inhaled deeply to see what the hell he was talking about. I hadn’t wanted to do it in front of him to give him the satisfaction of knowing I was eager to learn.

The first scent, and really the only scent that mattered to my wolf, was Cole. It was a warm scent, almost like cinnamon, and made me want to curl up in a ball and smell it all day. It also made a zing of lust shoot down my spine and settle in my gut.

I quickly finished packing some clothes, shoes, and toiletries and moved the boxes and suitcase outside the bedroom door. I couldn’t get the scent of Cole out of my head. Sure, I’d been around him for the last day and even been in his bed, but inhaling deep did something to my insides.

I carried my suitcase downstairs, leaving it at the bottom, and walked into the kitchen to find Cole with the refrigerator door open.

“You don’t have much in here to throw out. I put some stuff in your freezer.” He shut the door and turned to look at me. “Are you all done packing?”

I stepped toward him and he backed up into the refrigerator as I crowded into his space. “Yes.” My hands touched his waist, and I buried my face in his neck, inhaling.

He was the perfect height for nuzzling into his neck. A height where I'd just have to tip my chin in the slightest to meet his lips.

“Ivy,” he warned in a gravelly voice that promised if I didn’t back away from him, I was going to end up under him. “We should probably get going.”

“When you came into my room last night to grovel, why didn’t you kiss me again?” I nuzzled his neck and my entire body felt attuned to him.

One of his hands trailed lightly up and down my spine while the other moved my hair off my neck. His fingertips brushed the sensitive skin below my ear, and I hummed my approval.

“I figured you were pissed off still, and I didn’t want to push my luck.” He walked me backward until my ass hit the counter. “But I can’t stop thinking about the taste of your lips or the feel of your skin.”

I groaned as his lips brushed across the shell of my ear. “This is a bad idea.” It might have been a bad idea, but it felt so good and right that I wasn’t going to stop him.

Our lips met in a kiss that spoke more than we ever could. I wanted to dislike Cole, but my body had a different idea. My body was screaming at me not to stop.

He lifted me onto the counter, putting us at the same height, and I spread my legs for him to step closer. I needed him closer. If he pulled away from me, I would chase him down.
