Harmony was in the hospital for two days before they released her to go home. She had been home for a month now and getting better every day. My baby was a fighter, and that was the spirit I loved and wanted her to have. I was beyond grateful to Ross for not only his gracious understanding, but also for his friends’ unwavering kindness. They had been supportive the entire process, and Harmony absolutely loved them. She was always so happy to see them and the kids. I noticed Grayson’s special liking of Harmony. He took extra care with her to make sure she didn’t hurt herself. He would lift and carry things for her . Every so often, he would ask her if her arm was hurting, and if she said yes, he would kiss her cast and tell her it would make her feel better. It was the cutest thing.

Watching Ross with Harmony did my heart all the good in the fucking world. She had taken to him so well, and he was spoiling her with love and affection. He took the time to get to know her and allow her to get to know him. Their bond was beautiful. They had their own inside jokes and shit, and they wouldn’t let me in on it. It was cool, though. I never realized how much she needed a father until I saw the bond she was building with him. Although they hadn’t said it, I knew they loved each other. Ross was everything I could ever want in a father for Harmony.

He was patient and kind with her. He never rose is voice at her. In fact, when he corrected her behavior was the gentlest I had ever heard him speak. He took the time to explain to her why what she did was wrong on a level that she could understand. In the end, he would hug her and kiss her, and they would go eat a bowl of ice cream. I cried every time I witnessed that shit. It was always beautiful moments between them. I think I fell in love with him the very first time I saw it. That’s right. I was in love with Roswell Avant Scott. It was a feeling that surpassed everything. Other than the love I felt for my child, this was the rawest, most-intense thing I had ever felt.

Did I mention he sold a few of my paintings in his shop? True to his word, he took about five of them with him to work, and not even two days later, he brought me a check for thirty-five hundred dollars. I was both shocked and excited. So much so I damn near sucked the skin off his dick that night. We still hadn’t had sex, although that night, we had come close. I stopped myself, though. I just wasn’t ready at that time. Ross and I had an agreement that when I was comfortable, I would make the first move.
